For a long time, I felt guilty every time I used a mobility aid.
I told myself I should try harder, push more, or wait longer before using my scooter or wheelchair. What I eventually learned is that mobility aids don’t replace effort — they remove barriers.
Once I stopped treating my tools like a last resort, my world got bigger. I stayed longer at events, participated more, and came home less exhausted.
Letting go of guilt was one of the most freeing mobility decisions I’ve ever made.
