One of the questions I get asked most often is why I use a mobility scooter inside my home instead of my wheelchair.
The simple answer is freedom — especially the ability to use my hands. When I’m on my scooter, I can cook, vacuum, carry things, and move through my day without constantly stopping to reposition myself.
My wheelchair absolutely has its place, especially for public outings and longer days away from home. But inside my house, the scooter allows me to stay active and involved instead of conserving energy just to get from room to room.
Mobility isn’t about choosing one tool forever. It’s about choosing what works best for the moment you’re in.
